Expert Answers about Bumper Hitch

  • Difference Between Curt RV Bumper Hitches 19101 and 19100
  • The difference between the two hitches is the size bumper they are designed to fit. The 19100 # E-100 is designed to fit a 4 inch square bumper and the # C19101 on the other hand is designed to fit a 2 inch by 4 inch bumper instead. Basically you'd need to measure the dimensions of your bumper to know which you would need. Most likely it's a 4 inch square bumper though as that is the most common size.

  • Universal Bumper Mount Hitch or Custom Fit Hitch Receiver for a 2013 Nissan Frontier
  • The Curt 2" Trailer Hitch - Bumper Mount - 10-1/2" Bolt Pattern item # C19031 is a universal fit for any truck with a step bumper. I have linked a diagram detailing the measurements of this bumper mounted hitch. This is not a custom fit so you will have to drill into your Nissan Frontier's bumper. If you would like a custom fit hitch that bolts directly to your vehicles frame I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" item # e98869....

  • What is the Difference in the two Hitches part # C13388 and # 13375
  • The difference in the two hitches is what type of bumper they are designed to fit with. The vans had a standard rear bumper option and a step bumper option. The step bumper option gives you a step which allows you to climb into the back more easily. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13388 is designed for the vans that have the standard rear bumper. The side plates on this hitch are shorter than they are on the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13375 which is designed for use on...

  • Comparing Regular and Deep Drop Bumper Trailer Hitches for a 1964 Chevy 1/2 Ton Truck
  • A standard bumper looks like a regular old bumper that goes straight across at the top and bottom and might have a cut out in the center for a license plate but the cutout does not drop below the bottom of the bumper. A deep drop bumper will have the cut out in the middle but drops below the bottom of the bumper (at the center) so that it angles up from the center to the outer edges of the bumper. I have included a picture that better illustrates this. For models with the standard bumper...

  • What is the Bumper Clearance Distance for the Curt Hitch # C12198 on a 2019 Subaru Forester?
  • As far as comparing bumper clearance distance on your 2019 Subaru Forester, you are right in saying that the Curt Hitch # C12198 installs closer to the bumper than the Draw-Tite Hitch # 76271. The distance between the center of the hitch's pinhole of the Curt hitch to the outside surface of your rear bumper is only 4 inches compared to the 5 inches of the Draw-Tite Hitch. If you still find that you need less of a distance, we did install the Curt Hitch # C47HR on a 2021 Subaru Forester...

  • Comparing Curt Bumper Mount Trailer Hitch E-100 and Frame Mount 13703
  • Both the frame mount hitch # 13703 and the bumper mount # E-100 have 2 inch receivers. Both are rated for 350 pounds tongue weight and 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight. The bumper mount E-100 is more limited as to what it will fit on. First, the bumper has to be rated for use with a hitch. It must be a 4 inch square continuous welded steel bumper. A bumper mount hitch in general is not as stable as a frame mount. The frame mount 13703 can be bolted or welded on. It fits box frames, I-beam...

  • Bumper Mount and Frame Mount Trailer Hitches for a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan
  • On most vehicles, the bumper beam is attached to the vehicle frame. A hitch that attaches to the bumper beam (a lot of Jeep and Dodge truck applications are like this) is just as safe and secure as a frame mount hitch. It would take an impressive amount of force and one heck of a crack in the road to pull the bumper off of a vehicle, provided the hitch is installed correctly. Your mechanic may be thinking of a hitch that attaches to a square bumper like # E-100. You would not use this...

  • Hitch Receiver for 2001 Chevy Silverado with Roll Pan Bumper That Does Not Use License Plate Hole
  • You are correct. For the 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500, the Curt # 13932 is the only available hitch that can be used with the roll pan bumper. If you wanted to use one of the hitches designed to circumvent the deep drop bumpers that were often found on this model you could use the Curt # 13339. However, this is still a Class III hitch receiver, so it would not increase your towing capacity and there is not anything for use with an aftermarket roll pan bumper that is higher rated than that....

The height to the top of the receiver tube is 12-1/4" The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98854 is a close 2nd with a hitch pin hole to rear bumper length of 4-1/2". • Which Hitch Does Not Extend Past the Rear Bumper on a 2008 Lexus RX350
  • We have a video installation of the Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch, item # 75153, on a 2007 Lexus RX350, see link, that shows the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the farthest out part of the rear bumper at 1-1/2 inches, this leaves the receiver portion of the hitch out about 1/2 inch past the rear bumper. The Curt Class III Hitch, item # 13530, installs flush with the farthest out part of the rear bumper, so it would be the model that extends the least distance,...

  • Whats the Difference Between Curt Hitch E-100 and C19101
  • The difference between the Curt RV Bumper Hitch # C19101 and the Curt RV Bumper Hitch # E-100 is the application. If you check out the pictures I attached you can see how the mounting plates are different distances apart.

  • Difference Between Curt 13088 Square and Curt 13156 Round Tube Trailer Hitches
  • The two hitches you mentioned are very similar in size and installation. When comparing round and square hitches, round tube hitches are usually sleeker compared to square hitches. Any hitch for your Pathfinder will stick out past the bumper. I looked at our other hitch options like Draw-tite, and they stick out too. With these older Pathfinders, the extra bumper clearance is necessary to avoid obstruction. With the options available, I would go with the Curt Round Tube # C13156 if your...

  • What is the Bumper Clearance Measurement of the Draw-Tite # 24920 and the Curt # C11406?
  • Great questions! When choosing between the Draw-Tite Hitch 1-1/4" # 24920 and the Curt Hitch - 1-1/4" # C11406 for your 2019 Honda Fit, the bumper clearance measurements we have are the result of our install team's specs when they install the hitches on different vehicles; the manufacturers don't provide us with that information. The great news is that we have both bumper clearance measurements for both hitches when installed on your 2019 Honda Fit. I've attached the install videos that...

  • Comparing Curt And Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receivers for 2021 Audi Q5
  • I would be happy to make a recommendation for a trailer hitch for your 2021 Audi Q5. Between the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13331 and Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76183 I recommend the Curt # C13331 due to it allowing the rear bumper beam structure to be reinstalled for extra strength in the rear of the vehicle, and requiring less modifying to the rear bumper fascia. Draw-Tite has mentioned that in their testing that with their hitch installed the bumper beam structure...

  • How to Determine Location of Hitch Pin Hole on Class III Hitches Installed on 2014 Nissan Rogue
  • I went to our warehouse and measured each of the three 2-inch Class III hitches that fit your 2014 Nissan Rogue to confirm which will provide the best clearance for a bike rack. What I did was measure from the center of one of the rear-most mounting holes on the hitches to the center of the hitch pin holes. I went this route since the hitch attachment points on the car's frame do not vary, but the actual position of the flexible plastic rear bumper cover could. Plastic bumper covers are...

  • The installion instructions for the Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 65049 do not require that the front lower bumper spoiler be removed therefore yes, I believe you can leave it in position while you install the trailer hitch. The process of removing the front lower bumper spoiler was done to give our viewers a better look at what was going on which is why it was removed in the video. Please note that if you don't want to do any trimming of the front lower bumper spoiler...

  • Difference Between EcoHitch EH34FR and Curt C67JR for 2020 Subaru Outback
  • Both the EcoHitch # EH34FR and the Curt # C67JR hitches are pretty similar. Both hitches would install in the same manner, requiring that the rear bumper cover and bumper beam be temporarily removed. The hitches are both installed so that the mounting flanges are sandwiched between the trunk pan and the bumper beam. This acts to conceal the majority of the hitch behind the bumper. Both hitches will require a small amount of trimming to the fascia under the bumper so that the receiver tube...

  • Comparing Drop of Curt Hitch C14108 and 14211 for a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD
  • In regards to the Curt Trailer Hitch Receivers for a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD - 6-1/2 Foot Bed, the part # C14108 will sit closer to the bumper like the factory hitch when compared to the part # 14211. The latter has a higher class rating which requires more material i.e. gussets so it won't sit as closer to bumper.

  • Comparing Trailer Hitches that Fit a 2017 Toyota Prius v
  • We currently carry four trailer hitch receivers that fit your 2017 Toyota Prius v and the best one for you depends on what you're using it for. For example, the EcoHitch, part # 306-X7192, is the best option if you're going to be using the hitch to carry a cargo carrier or bike rack because the hitch pin hole sits closer to the rear bumper so whatever is in the hitch has a higher chance of clearing the bumper. It's also the only one that's a 2 inch receiver and there are more hitch accessories...
